Last Thursday evening, CALA faculty and students from our arts administration, filmmaking, historic preservation, writing and communications, translation, and interpreting programs gathered at the SPS building for our kick-off-the-semester mixer. The event is an opportunity for us to share news about our programming and events but even more importantly it is a lovely way for the members of our diverse and accomplished community to learn more about one another. After a presentation from the CALA administrators, attendees were asked to work together at their tables to come up with a clever tagline in response to the question, “Why do the liberal arts matter?” Here are their answers:
