As modern day New Yorkers, we tend to take our city for granted and not notice the architectural treasures that surround us every day. These treasures can be found in our parks, our public squares, and even hidden in plain site along our streets. This article, written by NYUSPS CALA instructor Glen Umberger, tells the story of a forgotten piece of New York’s Dutch history that was recently rediscovered, reminding us to take a moment and stop, look, and remember what previous generations of New Yorkers left behind for us.
