Starting Monday, NYC and NYU will host NY Edtech Week , a global education innovation conference in New York City celebrating education entrepreneurship.
The festival attracts, develops, and supports education entrepreneurs and edtech investors — and consequently supports advancements in learning outcomes. The 2016 NY Edtech Week innovation festival will expand on past successful events that have brought together hundreds of technology innovators, early-stage investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, media representatives, researchers, and teachers to foster new partnerships and exchange best practices. The week will be broken up into two parts: a “think tank” series and a “shark tank” series.
Speakers include Alicia Glen (Deputy Mayor, NYC), Mike Barger (Founding CLO, JetBlue), Tom Kean Jr (Senator, NJ), Carmen Farina (Chancellor, NY Dept. of Education), Andrew Hamilton (President, NYU), Ted Mitchell (undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Education) and others.
As part of the conference, CALA instructor Ivan Shumkov will host an architectural tour of the World Trade Center and Lower Manhattan.
Ivan is teaching the following architecture course in Spring 2017:
