The season is changing, which can mean only one thing: the start of brand new lecture series. Soho Photo Gallery is kicking their Contemporary Photographers talks this Thursday, September 15, with author Arthur Lubow presenting “The Intelligent Eye of Diane Arbus.” The event will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public, though you should reserve your seat. The series continues with a talk each month talking about the present and future of photography.
Soho Photo Gallery has a connection with CALA thanks to Professor T. Lawrence Wheatman, a photographer who has been featured there several times in the past. This semester, Wheatman will be teaching three courses:
- Mastering the Art of Street Photography
- Photography: From Beginner to Exhibitor
- Introduction to Digital Black-and-White Photography
And if you happen to take either Mastering the Art of Street Photography or Photography: From Beginner to Exhibitor, you yourself will be a part of a One-Nite Floor Show at Soho Photo Gallery, showing off the works completed in the course. Of course, that’s only one perk of taking a course about photography from a successful photographer. The classes start soon, however, be sure to look them up soon if you’re interested.
