“An American poet, essayist and journalist, Whitman is often called the father of free verse. Born on Long Island in 1819, his family moved to Brooklyn when he was four years old. As an adult, in addition to writing poems, he worked as a journalist, a teacher, a clerk and a printer. During the Civil War, he was an army nurse. In 1855, Whitman published his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, a work of startling sensuality, insight and openness. A controversial work for its expression of sexuality and homosexuality, it is now considered one of the greatest works of American literature.”

I have just seen this incredible tour and would have definitely joined you with my cousin. However, we are just about to load our new combined poetry book onto several e-book platforms so must press on!
Much of my poetry is based on my experiences in the USA and I am keen to learn so much more about the experiences of other poets in the USA. Please would you put my cousin and I down for the next tour and please retain me on your mailing list!
With very kind regards,
Jenny Knight
