In honor of Jennifer Egan’s Manhattan Beach being selected for the 2018 One Book One New York initiative, NYUSPS will be hosting a series of events to kick off the conversation – and to keep it going all summer long.
On Tuesday, June 19th, Join Julia Strayer, author and writing instructor in NYU’s School of Professional Studies, for a free writing workshop, where you will try your hand at writing flash fiction—condensed, pithy stories that move or amuse readers in about 1,000 words or less. Learn what flash fiction is, see how it works, read and discuss some examples, and then write your own. (You do not need to read the book before participating in the workshop.) The workshop is free and open to the public. We will meet in the 5thfloor lounge of 7 East 12th Street, from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, on Tuesday, June 19. SAVE THE DATE!
On Thursday, July 19th, we will host the novel’s author, Pulitzer Prize and National Book Critics Circle Award winner Jennifer Egan, for a reading and Q&A. So stay tuned for details!
