The filing period for open-competitive examination Court Interpreter (Spanish) 45-804 has been extended to Thursday, April 5, 2018. Court Interpreters assist court users with limited English proficiency by interpreting court proceedings verbatim between English and the court user’s native language. Interpreters may also translate various documents and perform clerical tasks related to language services. The competitive court interpreter exam is only offered in Spanish. Based on experience and performance, Court Interpreters may advance to supervisory positions such as Senior Court Interpreter (JG–21) and Principal Court Interpreter (JG–23).
Starting salary for Court Interpreters is $54,974 and benefits include: pension, 20 days of paid vacation, 12 state holidays and 13 days of paid sick leave.
Per Diem Court Interpreter Exam (Languages Other Than Spanish)

The Per Diem exam is a pathway to freelance interpreting assignments. Rate of pay for Per Diem assignments are $170/ half day (up to 4hours) and $300/full day (more than 4 hours), no fringe benefits.
