This is a unique chance to chat with IBM Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Steve Tomasco. Steve will respond to questions from participants about Innovation, Research & Communications. The topic of his presentation is “How IBM sees the future of technology with a science forward agenda, to drive Innovation”.
Steve Tomasco is vice president, marketing and communications, of IBM Research, one of the world’s largest and most influential corporate research labs, with over 3,000 researchers. Steve leads communications and marketing for IBM Research globally, directing innovation strategies in areas including hybrid cloud, AI, quantum computing, and exploratory science. He is also responsible for communications for IBM’s intellectual property strategy and business.
Steve has held several senior leadership roles in IBM communications responsible for building and protecting IBM’s brand with key stakeholders as well as providing strategic communications counsel to IBM’s most senior leaders.
Prior to his role in IBM Research, Steve led Corporate Communications for IBM overseeing the global communications function with responsibility for strategy and messaging, media relations, issues management, content creation and to drive market share growth of IBM’s strategic imperatives, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, security and quantum computing.
Throughout his career at IBM, Steve has served as the head of communications for IBM Watson, IBM Security, IBM Research, IBM Services, IBM Cloud and IBM Industry Platform businesses. He was also the global director of marketing for IBM’s telecommunications, energy and media & entertainment businesses.
Prior to joining IBM, Steve worked at Euro RSCG Magnet, Magnet Communications and Kratz & Jensen where he worked on a variety of business and technology accounts for the firms. He graduated from Marist College with a Bachelor’s in communications.
