General Population Stress and Economic Decision-Making Study (013-2016)

General Population Stress and Economic Decision-Making Study (Protocol No. 013-2016)

Researcher: Steven Lehrer, Jeffery Erlich, Evgeniya Lukinova

Purpose of Study : This protocol is consistent with a number of studies with Prof. Jeffrey Erlich’s approved Shanghai Research Challenge grant. A key aim of this grant is to investigate specific biological mechanisms so as to improve our understanding of how stress influences economic decisions. In this general population study we want to investigate the effects of stress on decision making. To measure stress in this protocol we plan to collect saliva and hair samples and perform cortisol analysis of these samples. Typically called “the stress hormone,” cortisol is an adrenal hormone that influences, regulates or modulates many of the changes that occur in the body in response to stress.

Criteria of Subjects: Subjects who are 18 and older are all welcomed to sign up. However, this study excludes NYU students (NYU students please check 015-2016), participants younger than 18 years old and pregnant women.
