PROJECT 3 PROPOSAL

PROJECT 3 PROPOSAL

My project seeks to explore the interplay between data sets reflecting the impact of COVID-19 and the tangible everyday objects such as masks/sanitizers/disinfectants. The pandemic has reshaped our world, necessitating significant lifestyle changes and highlighting the importance of preventive measures like mask-wearing, sanitizing and disinfectants. I am interested in delving into the reasons behind individuals choosing not to wear masks, sanitizing their hands after visiting a public place and the public places not using disinfectants –  I would like to examine the consequences of these actions. This inquiry aligns with Marshall McLuhan’s concept that the medium itself influences the message, emphasizing the significance of masks as a communicative medium in the global health crisis. I aim to communicate the urgency of mask-wearing during this pandemic and prompt critical contemplation among viewers regarding the complexities influencing individual’s decisions. The data sets which I am using help demonstrate the COVID-19 impact and the impact of not using the preventive measures. It is very interesting for me to see how my project will be shaped using these interesting perspectives while creating a model with many different dimensions and visualizing the data

The question posed is that why some opt not to wear masks, use sanitizers and disinfectants —remains open-ended, touching upon diverse factors such as personal beliefs, societal norms, political stances, and the influence of misinformation. My aim of the project is to invite the viewers to engage in thoughtful reflection, considering multifaceted perspectives on this crucial issue. The insights from McLuhan provide a lens through which to understand the communicative significance of masks, sanitizing and using disinfectants in shaping public health narratives during the pandemic. Additionally, my project draws inspiration from various research papers on behavioral psychology in public health communication and artistic endeavors that explore the symbolism and societal perceptions surrounding using preventive measures amidst the pandemic. I have cited the references that I will be using for my data analysis and findings for my  Project 3 in the end of this post

Few rough sketches of the everyday projects that can be related to my project and data sets 😀
