READING REFLECTION ON
The Story of Your Life
Ted Chiang’s novel doesn’t lend itself to visualization, but the present treatment does capture the mood of the original. The alien language is like the Oriental ink pen, such as fog smoke, instantly present all the meaning is soon dissipated. lt is about communication and isolation, we are all trapped in a certain self-righteous civilization and prejudice, it calls for communication and communication, it unravels time.it’s more like philosophy than science fiction.
In the age of Hollywood’s dominant voice, when aliens speak English, this film explores the relationship between different species and individuals, as well as the paradox of linear time and free will. The passage of time is worth living. The key tone of the film is mysterious, aesthetic, and soothing, and the abstract emotion is expressed in a dreamy visual symbol. The five movies seen so far all involve China and are mentioned as powerful others, especially sci-fi.
More closely related to this work is another discovery. The direction of writing in a language may affect people’s imagination of the time. So, a “nonlinear” alien language, and how will they impact our thinking? That’s what drives the story in fiction and film. Learning the language of “seven limbs barrel heroine” gradually found that, once broken the shackles of linear language, Human perception of time can be changed dramatically: things no longer happen in sequence, the future and the past exist in memory at the same time; “A cigarette is the ash of memory at both ends, as is the unburned end.” And sometimes she is completely dominated by the language. The past and the future are at the same time. The time has not come to ashes. “Fifty years at a glance, and the rest of my life.”
