NYU Hangouts Classic (Google) and its eventual replacement, NYU Meet (Google), offer audio and video conferencing features that are similar to NYU Zoom.
NYU Meet (Google) (Limited Release) allows NYU current community members to communicate in real time via web-based video and audio meetings. This service is integrated into NYU Calendar (Google) and NYU Chat (Google), and is also available as a standalone service.
To access NYU Meet, go to meet.google.com and log in with your NetID@nyu.edu email address or start an NYU Meet from within an NYU Calendar event.
Creating a video meeting via NYU Hangouts Meet

Breakout Rooms in NYU Meet
It is possible to create multiple rooms in advance for breakout-like functionality, but it takes more effort and is less flexible than Zoom. A walkthrough of this ‘Set up rooms in advance” method is here: https://www.claycodes.org/google-meet-breakout-rooms
