Assignment 5 Web Integration

This project was to create a 3d exhibition space of our choice.

The process was a bit difficult. At first, I was unsure as to how I should approach the project. I tried using multiple cylinders and subtraction one from another to create the overall shape. But then I discovered a tube shape that I then split reduced until one sixth of the ring remained. I duplicated this twice and rearranged them to make the buildings. They were all modified slightly in height to provide some variety and accommodate to their segments.  I was able to create some flames by testing out different tools. The boat, island, and sign segments were fairly easy to construct.

Following this step, I added in the materials. Originally, I had planned to only do stone. However, I eventually decide that I should add other elements to add some contrast. I chose to take the yellow from the sign and change it to a bronze material for the various elements across the buildings such as the flames. I was thinking if I had more time I could paint some of the elements such as the waves, but for not I think the dual materials suited the project.

The following images depict my latest version of the design. I added the sign in as a image plane. and learned how to render the images.

Below, the planned textual element can be found. The English text was taken from the previous assignment 3 or added in. I then placed the text through google translate to get the traditional Chinese text. I then formatted the text to follow the top down left to right.

Further improvements on this project would be adding the elements such as mahjong tiles and fortune cookies off to the side. I would also like to add in the textual elements and double check the scale of the my final product.
