This week my team decided on a direction to take for the challenge. Previously, we emulated visual impairment by blindfolding ourselves in the morning and going through our routine without sight. In this process, we followed our memory of the space and routine to get through the morning. We were also able to observe some difficulties that come with visual impairment, such as the one we decided to focus on in creating our product. This difficulty was my inability to determine the about of product I had used due to difficulty seeing the object and being unable to see it.
In order to tackle this problem, our team came together to think of a solution. Connie thought of a syringe that would have a rim lining the inside of each increment that would work by creating a popping effect. This would provide a precise measurement to be used by the user and an audio and visual effect that could also be felt. This type of product would allow for universal applications, in both in medicine use, cooking, and many other tasks.
This week, in order to help my team. I helped develop the idea in relationship to our findings from the empathy tool, in which I had difficulty using my toothpaste. In creating this product, we also found many other applications of this product that would also aide those who are death as well as blind.
