The Veldt- Ray Bradbury

In “The Veldt”, an possible interactive artifact would be the described kitchen. The story depicts how there is a machine that is able to provide the family with all their meals, and accommodate to family’s desires. That would not be currently possible in our would as AI is not yet advanced enough to consistently understand our request and the fact that people enjoying having in making their own foods.

The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas- Ursula K LeGuin

A possible artifact that is mentioned in the story is floating light. These lights could possible be responsive to movement. As of right now, I do not believe there to be a method for which we can allow lights, and many other objects, to float. A floating light would be able to move to provide the best view of a object in the dark and avoid obstacles by use of motion sensors.

The Plague- Yan LeiSheng translated by Andy Dudak

An artifact that could exist in the world of “The Plague” would be an incinerator that changes temperature based on the number of infected being burned. The change in load would affect the overall mass and available volume of an incinerator. In having ways to connect that information to the power provided to the incinerator, there would be interaction from the “crow” adding infected and the device.
