In this meeting, we discussed how to sell products in campus stores and how campus stores need to better present their products. The manager thought it was a good idea to sell coasters, cup holders, and pen holders in the store. The stationery is the most popular item in this shop. Students need to buy pens for this. We also came up with the idea of making a phone case. The manager also believed that it was possible to sell as long as we could produce a viable product.
We also found a case of brand new notebooks (about 400) that I had barely noticed due to some technical glitch and was heading back to the manufacturing plant. We asked the manager to ask how the factory would dispose of or recycle the notebooks. At the same time, we also want to help managers understand how to better dispose of these laptops and reduce waste and loss.
The manager also told us that the design of the campus store was originally designed for the bookstore. That’s why there are so many empty cupboards on the shelves. We found that the layout of the campus stores was not clean and efficient enough to make full use of the space. There are also many expired items that cannot be sold on the shelves. Therefore, we may need to provide some ideas on the future campus store arrangement.
We might make a slant display stand that can be assembled, with the body cut out of wood, the container part made out of bookshelves, and the connection part made out of recyclable plastic.
