The goal of my diptych is to represent routine within chaos. Recently this has been a large theme of my life, with many different changes and unexpected roadblocks being handed to me, I have found routine through school assignments. I want to capture one subject (ie. a city bus at a bus stop) within chaotic surroundings, within different thematic compositions.
To create a complete Diptych I want to capture one subject seemingly in the same place (ie. bus at a bus stop), yet distinguish the compositions through the use of lighting, color corrections, and overall theme of the piece. One half for example could be a warm welcoming image, shot in the daytime with a wide frame, and choosing warm tones in Photoshop. The other piece, by contrast, could be the same setting and same subject, however with a tighter frame, with a cold lighting and more ominous theme to it. The goal when combining the two is to show changing, chaotic backdrops for a steadfast subject
I have not put much consideration into what the actual subject could look like. One idea, as I have mentioned, is a city bus at a bus stop. My plan, however, is to carry the camera with me with these themes in mind to find different subjects, and curate a wealth of options to choose from.
To convey the different themes of mine I plan to use Photoshop to alter coloring, contrast, and overall tone of the pieces. I also want to utilize long exposure shots, to blur any moving objects surrounding the subject, to further convey the theme of chaos.
