Week 6: Homecoming response by Khaliun Dorjderem

I’m the type of person who learns things by listening, and I prefer this method compared to any other methods. I dance and make dances, when making dances music is really important. With my interpretation of one music my dance should stand out from others dance on the same music, and I like it because it allows me to differ from people. So, I enjoyed listening to the podcast, as it allowed me to picture the visuals the way I wanted to and only I can do.

At first I was confused by the different sound effects, and changes, but later on hit me as it was a transition between scenes. When there was a a siren sound I was able to see red blink in the scene, and all the ups and fallings of the sounds helped me more to transition smoothly. Usually in podcasts they have one narrater who tells the story, but this time we had phone calls and conversations helping the podcast to flow smoothly. Also, the relaxing background helped me to concentrate more on the main characters.

I think this podcast is an example of how sound effects can be used to make the audience imagine more precise image in their heads while listening. For me, while listening to this podcast I focused more on the methods used to tell the story rather than focusing on the storyline. It encouraged me to make dance on different audio collage.
