Week 9: Video Project Idea – Ruby & Tenielle & Daisy (Moon)

For the video project, we got inspired by the previous project, Roboto video.

We decided to include two main characters, Mr.box and Mr.eraser. The scene will be mostly in the room with two roommates. Mr.box and Mr.eraser are going to discuss how to decorate the room since they have different abilities. Mr.box can put objects into himself and deliver to a certain area. On the contrary,  Mr.eraser can ‘erase’ things that they do not want to include in the room.

Therefore, the main interaction for the users will be selecting options of ornaments, whether to include or exclude certain objects If the user chooses toare adding something, Mr. Box will come and add it for them, and if they want to take away something, Mr. Eraser will erase the items not wanted.

Also, in terms of the design of the webpage, we will juxtapose two videos; one showing from the box or eraser’s perspective, another showing the back side of them.

Week 09: Video Project Idea Vincent – Moon

For the video project, I am working with Milly, Oona, and me.

Our idea for the video project is something on the docks of “truth and lies”. The point of this is that there are two perspectives to every conversation, and that some may be lies and some may be truth, but the point of the lies could be to either make the person feel better or worse.

We would have three different scenarios, each with a different actor (Milly, Oona, Vincent), and there is two similar scenes, the difference being that the scenes show the lie and the truth.

Video Project Idea – Oona, Milly, & Vincent

We were able to come up with an idea pretty straight away! Milly had the initial idea of an alternate universe where people only speak the truth, and have been doing so since the beginning of time. We all thought this was a really good idea, and are starting to think about how we want to format it. As of now, we are thinking of using the branching idea for the flow of the story, similar to that of the comic project we did earlier this semester. We also decided that the audience will be able to choose to see the truth, or what the actor is actually thinking.

In terms of actors and scenarios, we decided that it will be the three of us acting out these scenarios. We will have one centered around each of us, and different setting/ narration will occur in each of our scenes.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this will go, because it seems like this project will be able to evoke many emotions (annoyance, awkwardness, funniness, etc.), so we can play around and see what we can do to get a good reaction from the audience!

Other details are still in the works, and this plan may change, but for now this is what we have developed 😀

Week 9: Video Project Idea – Tenielle, Daisy, Ruby

Revised Idea

Mr. and Mrs. Box engage in a dialogue with one another. They both romantically like each other, and as they’re “talking” they will both be envisioning what kind of dates they both want to be on. For example, while they are talking, Mrs. Box wants to go on a movie date so we will show a video of them on a movie date in her thinking box above her head. When the user clicks on the other box to start “talking”, they will see a visual of what the other box would envision their date to be like, and the viewer can see that in the thinking box as well.

These shots will be behind the shoulder shots to show that these two are in conversation. The videos will be played in the cloudy thinking box above their heads. The interaction will be when the user clicks on each box to “talk”. These boxes will both have drawn-on emotion on them, and will continuously change based off of what they feel in each situation.

It took us a while to decide on an idea, but we really got inspired by one of the previous examples of the Roboto video project, and thought it would be cool to reenact that. However, instead of a robot, we want to use a more unique idea of a box called “Mr. Box” and his friend Eraser, or “Mr. Eraser”. These two are not only friends, but roommates, and their job is to solely help the interaction between the user and the website.

We weren’t too sure what their jobs specifically would be, but we wanted to center our idea around having the user decorate the room, and we give the user the option of either adding something to the room, or taking something out (that is already there). If they are adding something, Mr. Box will come and add it for them, and if they want to take away something, Mr. Eraser will erase the items not wanted.

That is all we have for now, but we thought it would be a cute idea to focus on objects and draw on their emotions each step of the way, as well as having them interact with the user. Hopefully we can get this done with the allotted time given to us.
