Interaction to me is a conversation between two things whether it be between two people or two robots, there would be a reaction with every action. This project has opened a new branch of interaction between not two different things but instead two of the same subject.
The two forms of media I looked into that took this idea of human intelligence put into a man-made robotic device was a Black Mirror episode called White Christmas and a popular video game Detroit: Become Human by Quantic Dream. In the Black Mirror episode, a young woman had a procedure done to remove a copy of herself to be put into a device that will control her home to her personal liking. Because the device is a copy of her there is no need for training which eliminates wasted time. The video game Detroit: Become Human takes artificial intelligence to a new level. In this game, fully automated robots are created and have human intelligence but are only used as laborers. The Black Mirror resource reflected more of an interaction between two of the same subject because the interaction is between a copy of the original person. Together the human and their copy work in cooperation to allow the human to live comfortably.

My project has the same concept of taking a copy of a person but instead of forcing it to do laborious work it is present in a person’s life to be used as a quick and efficient second opinion or even just as a friend. MiniMi is a device that can be placed into any non-living object to give it some form of personality exactly identical to the person it was copied from. There would be an interaction between the two and they would “grow” together. This means that as time goes on the MiniMi device inquires more information about the person it stems from and is able to give appropriate responses at that moment.
We chose this type of interaction device because some of our members struggle with being only children and would have enjoyed having company growing up, and also to have rational and personalized advice readily available when important decisions were needed to be made. The MiniMi would be useful for those who need company at all times.
