Recitation 5:Processing Basics- Andrew Xie

The picture I chose is Josef Albers Homage to the Square: Homage to the Square

R5 1

The reason why I choose this picture is that I have just been exposed to the processing software, and I don’t know how to use it very well. So I want to start from a simple way, and it can be easily modified by arranging rectangles of different sizes.Because the color discrimination of this picture is not high, I think it is difficult to make the color close to the original picture.

For example, I made this picture at the beginning, but I found that the color was wrong and the proportion between RBG was wrong, so I modified it several times.

003

I finally got the right color, but still didn’t get the rectangle in the right place.

004

So I delete the inner rectangle, I want to make a simple robot head, just add the circle and triangle.006

The head of the robot with a red background is my final work. In fact, it is quite different from the original one which was just a rectangle. Because I didn’t solve the problem of moving the small rectangle to the middle of the picture, I changed my mind. Similar places only retained the background color is red, with the outermost large rectangle. I think processing is a good way to understand the design, because it is actually much more complicated than what you can see directly. Even just placing a few rectangles takes a certain amount of time, rather than drawing with a brush on paper. This makes me understand more about the difficulty of art creators, because I spent the whole recitation to complete this painting, and it was also based on the transformation of others.
