This blog post contains my submission for the three image combination assignment.
For the three images for this project I chose presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, a renaissance painting of Jesus Christ, and the American flag.
This project was made in PAINT.net, a free image editing application available for Windows.
First, I plastered Sanders’ head onto Jesus, which took quite a while. I used the recoloring tool to make the neck connect to the head, and then I had to remove Jesus’ hair by copying the upper part of the sun behind his head to where Jesus’ hair would be resting on his shoulders.
Then I added the American flag, which is placed on top of the image in a semi-transparent layer with an additive color property. This makes it so that the flag appears more on darker colors, and doesn’t add much to the lighter colors. Then I ran an eraser down the middle to make sure Sanders wasn’t obscured by the flag and to naturally draw your attention to him.
