Reflection: Accompanied by the video, Kenny G’s rendition of Auld Lang Syne evokes feelings of nostalgia. The combination of a smooth saxophone, as well as the soft, melodic percussive instruments, allows for a complete experience that allows the viewer to reimagine the most important events of the 20th Century. This is enhanced by the positioning of the quotations, where many of the quotes are placed out of order in order to enhance the experience. Much of what makes the 20th century so tumultuous is demonstrated by these quotations – for example, the quotes on segregation versus the white men are bad contrast.
