Session 7 – Midterm Presentation (Recorded / Asynchronous)

The Midterm Presentation will be a formal and “refined” version of the Peer Review Assignment. You can treat the Peer Review presentation as a draft for your Midterm Presentation. Unlike the Peer Review Assignment, the Midterm Presentation will be graded.

Presentation Guidelines

The Presentation will be in the form of a video. You need to record your presentation and upload it to the Miro board. The mid-term presentation will have a duration of 3-5 minutes, and it needs to use the following structure:

– Title of the Research

– Short Introduction (briefly explain what your project is about, why do you think this is relevant/important/interesting?)

– Literature Review (describe the sources that you have reviewed so far,  describe the categories and relations between the sources you have found.)

– Research Question (what is your question that emerges from your literature review and investigations?)

– Methodology (how will you continue to develop your research in the coming weeks?)

Session 6 – Peer Review Session (Mixed Mode / Synchronous)

Peer Review Feedback Forms, Ladder of Feedback Guide

Collected Feedback

Create a short presentation of your research so far – the presentation time should be between 3 to 5 minutes. The presentation should be based around these prompts:

1) What is your research question? Articulate the topic of your research clearly and concisely. What are the ideas and literature you draw on to form your question? What is the conversation you are participating in and what is the nature of your contribution?  Describe why it is interesting and important. You should be as detailed and focused as you can.

2) Choose 1 written source (book or article) that has been particularly helpful in your research so far. Detail why you chose this particular text. Describe its relevance to your research question.

3) Choose 1 practice-based work that you have found inspirational.  Detail why you chose this particular work. What is it that you find interesting or relevant for your project?

4) Outline your plans for a research method going forward. Are you going to use interviews, site analysis and observations, textual analysis, etc.

The presentation will be given to your peers and facilitators. Make sure that you share your work in a clear and concise manner. In addition to this, you are asked to provide feedback to your peers. In giving peer feedback don’t just say you like it (or not). Give suggestions. Be as detailed and specific as you can. Try and leave links of other works or texts that you think might be of use.

Add a post on your blog/notion page that summarizes and reflects on the feedback you have received. You would need to discuss the peer review and your reflections during your next advisor meeting, to help you better define and refine your mid-term presentation.
