In my work and research, I focus on how we can apply musical thinking and compositional structures not only to sound, but also to light, movement, and space, and I’m interested in exploring and crossing the boundaries of perception through synesthetic connections between the senses.
From a practical standpoint, it means that I develop audiovisual systems for kinetic light installations, live performances, and abstract films. Working from the notions of expanded cinema, visual music, and rave aesthetics, I create immersive environments that incorporate strategies of emergence and evolution to synthesize a form of machinic/artificial life.
My work and research is inspired by the media archaeological study of technology, for instance the history of proto-cinematic devices, and makes explicit connections to the histories of media arts while being strongly influenced by the dreams and truths that diverse kinds of science fictions provide to our current moment.
