CLASS 2: 2D Mapping & THE FINDING OF THE WEEK

2D Mapping Exercise

Inspired by Motomichi’s work, I decided to use only three colors: black, white, and red. I found out that it is really hard to pick more specific colors on the Color Pattern Generator. I like the gradient effect of the Color Pattern which gives a range of hues, but I am unable to adjust the saturation of them. I decided to use Solid Colors and radial Gradient Colors to get the ideal result. I also want to experiment with negative space with black and white color.

The Finding of the Week

I haven’t found anything interesting to write this week, so decided to write about the ultra-short throw laser projector I bought five years ago. The model I owned is the VAVA-LT002 – 4K Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector. It can achieve a 100” projection from just 7.2” away from my wall. The advantage of Short throw projectors is that they do not require a huge throw distance for them to project large images. Also, the design eliminates the shadow problem, making them ideal for home theaters and galleries. However, the disadvantage is the lack of flexibility in placement. The height, distance from the wall, and orientation are all fixed with little to no adjustments, so they are only suitable for projecting traditional media content.
