Bigscreen is a virtual community or meeting room where you can watch movies, play games, and socialize with friends. In my experience, the app is built for watching movies with people online. You have the option to host a room or join a public room. Almost every virtual room contains a big screen as the media player. You are able to customize a room for specific needs. It could be a home cinema, an opera theater, a rooftop lounge, or even a bedroom. The rooms are categorized as chats, movies, games, and NSFW. This feature allows users to easily pick and join the room they want.
You are able to customize your avatar making the experience more immersive and personalized. You are able to talk with your mic on and mute someone if they are utterly annoying. You also have the option to eat popcorn, drink sodas, or even take selfies. The feature I love the most is the drawing tools. When selected, you are able to pick a variety of pens to draw in the air.
I watched the 2022 NBA All-Star game with my friends on Bigscreen using Oculus Quest 2. For me, the experience is quite enjoyable, as if I am watching the game with my friends at a party. It reminds me of the days in high school when we have more time to physically meet and hang out. It is so nice to hear them curse at each other’s favorite players again and toss popcorn at each other.
