I was amazed by how well the animation was produced during the 1910s, using tracing papers and keyframes. Even with the software and technology we use today, it would be hard to produce an animated film of this high quality, not to mention that this was an interactive performance. I was immediately drawn by the protagonist Gertie, mainly because of the accuracy in movement and Winsor McCay’s lovable art style. The timing of each motion and the attention to detail are really awe-inspiring.
