The in-class exercise asks to create a design language (a set of rules and principles ensuring designs have a sense of continuity), and anything can be materials to use.
The work uses fruit peels (apple and banana) to compose a piece of textile. Instead of choosing a long-lasting, feasible material, we picked a rather short-living, easily rotten one to challenge the idea that clothes stay unchanged or little changed. In fact, while being weaved, the color and humidity of the peels were already changing rapidly. When the fabrication was done, the material did not look the same as when it was peeled.
The weaving method was rather simple, with the weft threads and warp thread interwoven. With some spared time, we also made a banana peel ring to show the continuity in our design language.
