Academic advising is an ongoing developmental dialogue between students and advisors to help students explore their pathways to academic and personal goals.
Advisors will:
- Help you to think through your academic interests and options.
- Help you to interpret university requirements and policies.
- Identify and refer you to appropriate resources and services.
- Communicate in a respectful manner.
Students are expected to:
- Attend advising appointments on time.
- Prepare for advising meetings in advance, doing research and preparing questions.
- Actively participate. Listen carefully to advice, take notes, weigh options, and make your own thoughtful choices.
- Be honest.
- Check your NYU email every day.
- Communicate in a respectful manner.
