Case Study I: Generative Arts — Moon Inspiration

How to make 3D rotating moon using css | animated moon
In the link above, the programmer makes 3D rotating moon using CSS and HTML based on a flat image of the moon.
This idea is to use a 2d image and add boundaries and functions with limits, to make the image animated. The aesthetic of this piece is pretty simply, focusing on texture more than color. Although it repeats a singular motion, the B&W moon still give the viewer a sense of serenity and unique charm.
In terms of the technical side of this project, I’m not sure if I comprehend it completely since it uses CSS and HTML, which allows one to import an existing visual. It might not be the case for java script, but I found the idea fascinating.
Personally, I am a big fan of moon because my Chinese name is pronounced the same as “full moon”. I also have a tattoo that shows moon phases. Therefore, the project has an extra sparking interest to me.
