Universe Under Renovation

by Razia Sultana

Standard way of living:
wake up, get ready, go to work, run errands, submit assignments, complain

Reset

Today’s universal norm:
high in tech, skyscrapers, cars, factories, smoke, pollution, trashing the earth

Reset

Casual weekend flair:
party, smoke, drug, drink, living on the edge, casino, dose off till Monday morning

Reset

Family time: 4th of July, Memorial weekend, Eid, Diwali,
Thanksgiving, winter break, Christmas, New Year

Reset

Parent-teacher meeting missed, doctor’s appointment missed, graduation day?
A no-show! Soccer game? Cannot make it!

Reset

Poverty in Africa, Syria, Yemen, Ethiopia, Sudan, Haiti, Nepal, Somalia,
not the rich’s problem

Reset

The wealthy continue to become lush, the corrupted continue to tarnish,
human trafficking at its peak

Reset

Italia, Spain, Turkey, Dubai, Paris, Mecca, Disney world
among the top ten tourist attractions 24/7

Reset

When was the last time one had time to see a sunrise or a sunset?

Reset

A mask and a pair of gloves become the world’s powerful resource
And money cannot buy oxygen
Man-made creation has been on pause since mid-March
The sun continues to rise and set
The clouds still pour
The fleet of birds continue with their eternal routine
Stars shine across the universe at night.

God vacuumed his world
While man helplessly watched through a lockdown
This is not the first time God has taken charge
And it is definitely not the last.
God does not need me, I need God!
Repent, revise, restart, reset

Razia Sultana was born and raised in Abu Dhabi. The U.S. has been home for her since 1994. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information System Management from SPS DAUS, the Covid-Class of 2020, majoring in Cyber Insecurities. Razia is pursuing her Masters with CGA at SPS DAUS and is currently a Help Desk Analyst at NYUIT. She is on the people side when it comes to technology. She believes end-users’ lack of awareness is like having an unarmed military sent to the war grounds. She appreciates nature as it is—untouched, can’t be modified by a human except admired, praised and witnessed. She respects History as it once was, and says, “while we are making history right now, let’s live the story we want to tell!”
