Paradox

by Jimmy Krause

Gone is my will to live,
but fear keeps me from dying.

Gone is my want to be loved,
but I long for someone to hold.

Gone is my belief in God,
but I beg Him to save me.

The hole opens wider,
I spiral and waver.
The hole opens deeper,
I cling to its walls.
