Sudden flu outbreak among Ann Arbor campus students in University of Michigan

Over 500 students have been diagnosed with Influenza A(H3N2)  since October 6th, most of which are unvaccinated. Although flu season is upon us, the CDC and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ Epi-Aid sent a team to investigate since the size of the outbreak is unusual.

The teams hope to conduct a rapid assessment of the flu outbreak, concentrating on vaccine uptake and its effectiveness against H3N2 and risk factors of the patients, and to develop plans of action and to identify preventative measures.
