Student Spotlight: Evanie Evra

Evanie is a passionate public health professional pursuing a master’s degree in public health, with a focus on global health, from New York University. She possesses extensive experience in community health and well-being, concentrating on developing and implementing health and wellness programs for diverse populations.

Fluent in English, French, and Creole, Evanie is dedicated to enhancing healthcare access and education both domestically and internationally. Her commitment is further evidenced by her co-founding and vice-presidential roles in a humanitarian foundation, where she strives to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need through advocacy and her trilingual skillset.

Evanie was living in Haiti at the time of the devastating earthquake that struck a town nearby the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince in 2010 and claimed the lives of more than 220,000 people. Listen to her account of the traumatic events of that day, and the ensuing community resilience that followed, which influenced her career choices that led her to public health and the desire for a deeper understanding in the realm of disaster preparedness and response.
