Jani’s case study provides an overview of the impact, management, and communication of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami in India. Within three hours after the disaster, the Indian national government and the National Disaster Response Force (NRDF) took command over the organization and distribution of disaster relief resources. 930 relief camps were set up for impacted areas, and over 600,000 individuals were provided food, water, and shelter.
