Rebecca Sherrod has an MPH in infectious disease and an MA in political science prior to working at NYU. She works as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the VA Boston Healthcare System. She wants to get into a field where it is more dynamic and multidisciplinary that the entire team is dedicated to solving public health problems.
Her MPH dissertation topic was on the lessons learned from the Ebola outbreak response of the World Health Organization. Her research topic inspired her to ruminate on the operational effectiveness of the WHO. She found that the pooled resources for the WHO and the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network were influenced by international politics and, therefore, led to limitations in the effectiveness of multi-national outbreak response.
