Advanced Certificate in Public Health Disaster Science, Policy and Practice
NYU’s School of Global Public Health offers an advanced certificate in public health disaster science, policy and practice to all professionals who are interested in the field. Current students can apply in conjunction with the Master of Public Health, Doctorate of Public Health, or PhD program. The certificate builds on the following skills:
- Leadership, management and decision making.
- Communication, coordination and community engagement.
- Evaluating and designing preparedness, response and recovery interventions.
- Research and development.
- Agent-based modeling techniques to critically analyze the design of disaster preparedness, response and recovery systems.
- Networking with public health professionals, mentors and scholars.

New Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced a new outbreak forecasting center designed with three key functions: predict outbreaks using forecasting and modeling, expand capacities for data sharing and integration, and disseminate information to key decision-makers.
