Brandao details the practices’ negative public health consequences on surrounding populations and narrates the events that had taken place in 2023 in response to these injustices.

Introduction: Internationally, wildfires are increasing in frequency, duration, severity, and number of acres (hectares) burned. Unfortunately, climate change adds a layer of complexity as it creates environmental conditions conducive to wildfires. This disaster response plan serves to develop a process to build resiliency and provide the means to mitigate loss of life and livelihood for Indigenous peoples and communities within the context of wildfires.

Introduction: The South Louisiana region, with a rich cultural heritage and diverse population, faces significant challenges due to its location along the Gulf Coast, where hurricanes frequently make landfall. Specifically, Orleans Parish has recently experienced devastating impacts of hurricanes, which have resulted in adverse mental health outcomes for its inhabitants. This annex to the Louisiana Department of Health sets forth guidelines and recommendations for managing the response to mental health needs of individuals and communities in Orleans Parish post-hurricane.

Between 2014 and 2018 England saw more than a 20% increase in E. coli cases. E. coli has become a risk to public health since it can cause death or lead to serious medical problems such as permanent kidney or brain damage, even after recovery from the infection. This Food Standards Agency Emergency Response Plan outlines the recommended procedures to effectively manage responses and mitigate risks during food safety emergencies like E. coli outbreaks.

Although mass shootings are not nearly as common in France as they are in the United States, they are not infrequent either. More recently, mass shootings in France –– particularly those occurring in Paris –– have been tied to terrorism. In the event of an active shooter incident or any other connected emergency or disaster that could affect the country or any of its residents, Services d’Aide Médicale Urgente (SAMU) is required to respond and take action. In some cases, this response requires joint efforts between fire and rescue services as well.
In this Qualtrics report, the group seeks to evaluate COVID-19 prevalence, compliance with public health guidelines surrounding the disease, uptake of COVID-19 vaccination, and confidence in governmental preparedness for future pandemics using survey data collected from 37 study participants.
