Devastating floods ravaged Pakistan, affecting 33 million people across the country. Many crops and villages remain underwater due to the floods known as Pakistan’s greatest climate disaster. Millions of children have been suffering from malnutrition, acute respiratory infections, and painful skin conditions.
To address this ongoing crisis, international donors pledged $9 billion for reconstruction, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts in Pakistan, as international banking systems look to improve developing countries’ response capacity to large-scale climate disasters. The UN has declared that they will continue to improve international responses to humanitarian needs similar to those in Pakistan and in other disaster-prone nations.
