A report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration found that coastal sea levels will rise by about a foot by 2050, and by at least two feet by the end of the century due to global warming. This rise will happen regardless of any reduction of greenhouse gas emission efforts.
However, the rise is not uniform across the state with much of the East and Gulf coasts suffering at least one foot increase in the next three decades, while the West Coast to be on the lower end of the rise. The consequence of this would lead to more damage due to higher floods from tides and storm surges and increased impact area. The significance of this sea level projections for the next 100 years helps city officials and various civil experts to plan their infrastructure proactively.
