Paola Torres’ educational background and professional experiences provided her with opportunities to travel to El Salvador, different areas in Mexico and the USA. She started her public health career at the University of California – Irvine and then went on to work for the AmeriCorps, from there she joined NYU to get an MPH in Environmental Health and work with the YMCA.
During her internships, she gained exposure in the fields of climate change, food systems, flooding, ecotourism, urban planning and civic engagement, binational management of solid waste. Her passion for climate change mitigation translated into searching for a deeper understanding of emergency preparedness and response, which ultimately lead her to pursue a Master in Public Health with a concentration in Environmental Health.
