About the Project
NYU students Sara Bond and Tasfia Bashar worked with the FXB Climate Advocates Program to bring together 100 high school-aged youth to learn, connect, and act on the climate crisis. As part of the school-year curriculum, program participants engaged in three two-month “Deep Dive” intensives devoted to the exploration of a single climate change issue through a series of workshops, expert presentations, and collaborative projects. The three areas that were delved into include Livable Cities, Commerce and Consumption, and Community Climate Action. The problem they addressed was enriching the knowledge of young advocates on climate change and sustainability, and empowering them to take individual actions in their communities. The Livable Cities “Deep Dive” explored how urban health should be a critical focus of sustainable cities. Additionally, they explored the challenges of sustainable city design, and highlighted global innovations such as environmental practices, zero emissions, zero waste, electric vehicles, public transport and public health.
About the Project Organization
“FXB International is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with over 30 years of experience in breaking the cycle of poverty. Children’s rights are at the heart of FXB’s actions, and each of its programs is a response to the concrete implementation – in the daily lives of children – of their rights as defined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted on November 20, 1989. FXB programs also integrate most of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to reach the 2030 agenda. 18 million adults and children have already benefited from our programs.
FXB USA focuses on climate change through the FXB Climate Advocates Program.”
