About the Project
NYU students Stephanie Su and Mack Stoeltje supported the Climate Advocates Program in designing climate & health advocacy projects. The students helped lead the Project Labs as well as mentor 2-3 high school students to develop climate and health projects. Students connected participants to additional resources, guided them in conducting research, and provided suggestions for stakeholders to contact.
Through FXB’s partnerships with renowned institutions and organizations such as the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights at Harvard University, New York University School of Global Public Health Urban Health Lab, Project Drawdown, and Climate Reality Project, FXB Climate Advocates selects one of three advocacy tracks for students:
-
- Climate & Health: Learning about the impact of climate change on people’s health, especially the most vulnerable communities.
- Energy: Learning about the relationship between energy use and climate change.
- Sustainable Consumption: Learning about how choosing, using, and disposing of goods and services impacts the environment.
Through this program, FXB Climate Advocates will build their individual advocacy toolbox, engage in collective advocacy, and become more effective climate advocates. The FXB Climate Advocates program is an innovative way to empower youth to translate their passion into action and contribute towards the global climate agenda.
The Climate & Health Advocacy track focuses on the impact of climate change on people’s health, especially the most vulnerable communities. It consists of three training sessions and three project lab sessions. The first session focuses on the connection between climate and health. The second session focuses on climate justice and environmental health. The third training session focuses on existing community advocacy initiatives.
About the Project Organization
“FXB International is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with over 30 years of experience in breaking the cycle of poverty. Children’s rights are at the heart of FXB’s actions, and each of its programs is a response to the concrete implementation – in the daily lives of children – of their rights as defined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted on November 20, 1989. FXB programs also integrate most of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to reach the 2030 agenda. 18 million adults and children have already benefited from our programs.
FXB USA focuses on climate change through the FXB Climate Advocates Program.”
