The Simons Center for Computational Physical Chemistry (SCCPC) at NYU invites applications from outstanding young scientists, who are within three months of, or three years beyond completing their PhD, for independent three-year Simons Center Fellowships. Fellows are selected on the basis of their exceptional accomplishments to-date, evidence of strong intellectual drive, and the promise of the research they plan to undertake in the broad areas of theoretical and computational chemistry.
While Fellows enjoy complete independence in their research, they are strongly encouraged to establish collaborations with faculty affiliated with the Simons Center. The Fellows benefit from, and are directly involved in, the multifaceted activities of the SCCPC, which include organizing several annual multi-day international workshops focusing on the frontiers of theoretical/computational chemistry and hosting theoretical chemistry colloquia having both established and early-career scientists as the speakers. This enables the Fellows to network extensively with the leaders in the field. Formal mentoring committees will be established to guide Fellows towards obtaining an independent research position at the end of their time in the Center.
Fellows are appointed for a three-year term, and receive a highly competitive annual stipend of $85,000, benefits, plus research and travel funds of up to $10,000, per year including up to $2000 of relocation costs. Women and members of groups currently underrepresented in computational physical chemistry are especially encouraged to apply. Fellowships are open to all nationalities.
To Apply
Send email to Kathleen Conlon Hinge, Program Administrator, Simons Center: kch9740@nyu.edu. A complete application includes: (1) Cover letter, (2) Research Statement (in which faculty with whom they foresee collaboration may be identified), (3) C.V., and (4) three letters of recommendation, one of which should be from the candidate’s PhD advisor.
Each recommendation letter should be emailed directly by the author with the applicant’s name in the subject line.
Only complete applications, submitted on or before the due date, will be considered. Interviews will be conducted with those candidates identified as the most promising based on the application materials.
