Studying Inequalities in the Justice System

Understanding Critical Consciousness
The RISE team conducts research aimed at understanding Critical Consciousness, which suggests reflection on inequality, efficacy to change it, and action against inequality can empower youth from marginalized backgrounds. The team studies how critical consciousness develops, how psychologists can best measure it for different groups, and how it predicts a range of outcomes, including wellbeing, academic engagement, and intergroup relations.
