Riana Brown is an incoming Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University (starting January 2025). She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC) at the University of Pennsylvania, where she works with Dr. Dolores Albarracín.
She recently received her Ph.D from the Department of Psychology at New York University working with Dr. Maureen Craig. Before NYU, she lived in Amsterdam where she served as a Fulbright Fellow and completed her M.S. in Social Psychology Research from the Vrije University Amsterdam. She received her B.S. in Psychology and International Studies from the University of Miami.
Her research focuses on how people respond to evidence of social inequality, particularly given the intersectional nature of social identity. She is broadly interested in understanding the ways people seek to address and mitigate social problems, such as racial inequality, poverty, and climate change. She hopes her work can shed light on the complexities of society’s social ills to create long-lasting social change.
When she is not discussing or researching social problems, you can find her biking around, drinking coffee, rock climbing, or practicing handstands in the park.
