Breakbeat classification and resequencing in electronic dance music
Electronic musicians have incorporated samples of percussion solos from funk and jazz music, or breakbeats, into their music for over 30 years. In this time, the continual development of new sampling technology has generated new techniques for manipulating breakbeat rhythms, however computational analysis related to these samples remains somewhat limited. This talk will present current research geared towards the rhythmic analysis of breakbeat usage in current electronic music, with a special focus on the subtask of drum transcription through the use of recurrent neural networks.
