I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics as well as the Affiliated Member in the Center for Health Data Science at the School of Global Public Health, New York University. I am also an Affiliated Member in the New York Genome Center, New York.
Before joining NYU, I was an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at Colorado State University, and also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics at the Colorado School of Public Health. I received my Ph.D. in Statistics at Iowa State University under Professor Stephen Vardeman and Professor Huaiqing Wu‘s advisorships. I also received my Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at ISU. Here is my mathematics genealogy.
My research is focused on developing theory and methods for network data modeling, high dimensional statistics, multiple testing problems, econometrics, machine learning, and causal inference. I am interested in applications in genomics, genetics, bioinformatics, protein structure modeling, political science, epidemiology, policy evaluation, and casual relationship in large observational studies.
As the PI, my research and work are generously supported by NIH R01GM157600 (Co-I and PI@NYU), NIH R01GM144961 , NSF-IIS 1545994 , and NSF-DMS 1730090 ; also, I was supported by, as the Co-PI, DOE DE-SC0018344 and NSF-IOS 1922701 .
I am currently serving as the Co-Editor in Chief for Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, as well as an associate editor for Biometrics , Statistica Sinica , Journal of Multivariate Analysis . I am also a member of the editorial advisor board for New Phytologist. I am elected as the the WNAR program coordinator since Jan 2024.
Openings: I am looking for highly motivated graduate students for Research Assistant positions. Students with strong math/stat background & computational skill (e.g., Python, R, Matlab) and experience in computational biology/genomics, bioinformatics, machine learning, and network modeling are preferred.
