III.  Concept | Storyline

       1) Who are you going to interview? Or What is the piece (article, poem, story) for the narrative voice over?

  • Murmur content —— AU edit version
    • Murmur recording (Left/Right channels)
    • Some clearer words in between
  • 1-2 poems about experiences as women
    • Lines of the poems inserted to different places of the film

       2) What’s the story about?

  • About a girl who has been watched (eyes), denounced (mouth), pointed (finger), throughout her life, and in the end, she becomes that kind of person.

       3) What kind of style/aesthetics are you going to pursue?

  • Color to dark; every time a gaze component (eyes/mouth/finger) from seldom to frequent
    • Everything happened during a complete process, the girl wears a colorful skirt(eye), she starts to put on makeup (mouth), she walks out of her room (finger points at her).
    • As the gaze becomes more frequent, the girl’s perspective starts to shake / gesture begins to crawl and she squats on the ground
  • Short black screen, then climax: the female protagonist starts to internalize the gaze’s logic, and inspects, denounces, and points to herself in the mirror.
    • Changes her costume to regular, conventional clothes
    • A shot of the female protagonist standing and staring into the mirror, then shots of her eyes, mouth, finger
    • Followed by a shot of her staring into the mirror, dragging the audience out of the mirror
  • Shift to first-person perspective at the end to include all women into the scene
  • Optional poem snippets

IV. Execution Plan

       1) What equipment are you going to use when shooting the movie? (cell phone, DSLR camera, sound recorder, stabilizer..)

  • Cellphone (for shooting and recording), DSLR camera, stabilizer

       2) Which locations will it be shot at? When is it? Day time/night/unknown? Why?

  • On the street (first part of the story, before the girl’s transition) during the day
  • In the dorm (makeup & facing the mirror) during the day

       3) What are some challenges you might encounter and how will you prepare?

  • Taking shots of the street because we might be able to go out due to quarantine
